- Two days ago, I tried to start up my A1200, without success. After booting
- from floppy, the harddisk (a 730 MB Quantum Lightning attached to an
- Apollo accelerator/SCSI-II interface) wasn't recognized. With the Apollo
- installation software, the harddisk appeared unformatted. Luckily, I could
- restore most of the drive using disksalv (had to use the salvage option).
- Everything worked fine until this morning when almost the same happened.
- My 400 MB boot partition showed up as HD0:NDOS; (the rest of the harddisk
- is used with ShapeShifter and seems ok). I tried to repair HD0: with
- disksalv. As a result the volume name was now "wanagi-wachipi"; I came
- across this name the first time it happened, too, but didn't think much of
- it at the time.
-
- Anyway, before I try and restore the disk again, I'd like to know if
- anyone has come across the name 'wanagi-wachipi?' Is it a virus and if
- not where did this name come from? Interestingly, I've got another SCSI
- harddisk attached to the controller which isn't affected. As far as I
- know, the SCSI cabling and termination is OK.
-
- Any help appreciated,
-
- Peter
